Res Grenache 2012

This is a blend of our best Grenache barrels along with a touch of Mourvedre. This traditional style is forward on the palate with notes of dried fruit and compound florals, such as rose and violets. You may recognize this varietal as one of the components of our Provencal rose wine. Here you will find the fuller red wine expression of this fruit.

The grapes were cool soaked for ten days before fermenting and then pressed as soon as the primary fermentation was complete. Malactic fermentation was completed in American Oak barrels. As the wine aged it was stirred several times each week to help build a full body. It was racked only once prior to bottling and without finning, producing a fully expressed wine with notes of dried cranberry, cassis, and hints of lavender. Enjoy now though 2016. A perfect wine for Fall fare or an accompaniment to a Hill Country sunset with friends.

TASTING NOTES

Aromatics: Ripe, dried cranberry and cassis, lavender and earth.

On the palate: Starts with red fruit and dried fruit, leading into a fully rich mid-palate of spice, rose and violets. The finish lingers with fruit and currant accompanied by a satisfying ammount of tannin and spice.
